Another retail listing of the Intel Core i9-14900KS CPU has leaked out and this time we get to see a confirmation of its official specs.

Intel Core i9-14900KS CPU Spec Leak Confirms A Power Hungry & Thermally Abusive Monster

The Intel Core i9-14900KS CPU is going to be a limited edition offering and the world's first CPU to break past 6 GHz, exceeding the Core i9-14900K and Core i9-13900KS which were clocked at up to 6.0 GHz. This chip is going to be the fastest consumer-tier offering under the 14th Gen family & is going to be the last chip in the family before Chipzilla moves to its newer LGA 1851 platform & the respective Arrow Lake-S Desktop CPU family (there are also reports of LGA 1700 to continue with a new family known as Bartlett Lake-S).

A few days ago, we saw the full specifications of Intel's Core i9-14900KS CPU leak out within OCCT which shows that the Intel Core i9-14900KS Desktop CPU will feature the same 24 cores and 32 threads in an 8 P-Core & 16 E-Core config. The chip will feature 36 MB of L3 cache and 32 MB of L2 cache. As for clocks, the base frequency will be set at 3.2 GHz while the boost frequency will be set at 6.2 GHz, making this CPU the fastest-clocked chip on the planet. This is 200 MHz faster than the current fastest Core i9-13900KS and Core i9-14900K CPUs. The CPU will have a base TDP set at 150 Watts while the PL2 rating will definitely be around 300W.

While designed for enthusiasts, the Intel Core i9-14900KS CPU is going to be very hard to tame with its power consumption hitting almost 410 Watts and temperatures exceeding 100C. You will need a really good cooling solution (preferably a 420mm AIO or custom-loop) and a decent enough power supply to accommodate this chip within your PC. And for those who want to overclock this chip, well it looks like LN2 is the way to go. Considering that the Core i9-14900KS is going to be a binned chip, it will most definitely become a highlight among the extreme overclocking community who will try to break their previous world records set with the Core i9-14900K.

Currently, the Intel Core i9-14900K has hit clock speeds of almost 9.1 GHz which is a remarkable feat but we can expect the Core i9-14900KS to do slightly better. Maybe it will close in on the 9.5 GHz barrier if not 10 GHz.

Based on the information that we have available, the Intel Core i9-14900KS CPU is expected to hit retail shelves next week which aligns with the previous reports of it launching in early March. The specific retailer has listed the chip for 1,005 CAD which converts to around $740 US which is about as much we would expect from a "KS" special edition chip.
