Our Story
In 2019, SMP Labs was founded to develop a technology solution to help with the escalating problem of physical and verbal assaults on healthcare workers. We worked with hospital teams to create a reliable, easy-to-use, affordable duress alerting system. Our technology is currently protecting 210,000 healthcare staff across 800 locations.
Although we have been operating the solution on a 24/7/365 basis for the past four years, we sold our product only through distributors as a white-labeled brand name. Canopy, formerly SMP Labs, has emerged from stealth to work more closely with health systems to tackle the epidemic of workplace violence. Our trusted and proven staff safety system is now available through Canopy under the brand Canopy Protect.
