In that case you'd better change vendor 1022. That's AMD's real ID. This one is an ATI legacy, it contains ATI hardware from before the acquisition and all graphics cards from ATI/AMD - that's why we still use "nee ATI" here. AMD CPU parts and chipsets use 1022.

By the way, brackets are used for marketing names. In this case nobody knows the name Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. So I think using [AMD] is right - it's also used at SiS.

I know every sku that is stringed to each device id specifically and sub system ids which is important to know for cards like HD 5450/6350/7350 I have found a way to tel lthem apart using the same dev id and will help out so many devs with gpu programs, im also good in NVidia ids. I am the lead database editor at TechPowerUp! and I have stringed together every device id with their proper gpus.

I was confused when I noticed my card now displays as an AMD nee ATI Madison. I wondered what "nee" meant (chipset?).
I'm French, but I can't even remember seeing the word "nee". I now understand, but I'm not convinced it's accurate. In fact, "né" is a French word, and in French this wouldn't be an exact use. I believe the formula "AMD nee ATI" implies that AMD was known as ATI before, but that's wrong. It is ATI which is now known as AMD. So the suggestion to use the formulation "ATI/AMD" may be less clear, but also less misleading. Otherwise, if as AlbertP claims this is only used for old cards, then "ATI (now AMD)" may be clearer.

But, I'm not sure this is really restricted to old cards. To sum up, AMD bought ATI in 2006 but kept branding its cards "ATI" until 2010. I understand AlbertP's comment as a claim that post-2010 AMD cards should not use this ID. However, I see several HD 8xxx cards here, added in 2012 and even 2013. So it seems AMD keeps using 1002. If so, then a vague "ATI/AMD" may be best.

@ Chealer: I was probably not very clear. This ID is still in use for AMD graphics products.
Using nee for companies that are acquired or have merged is quite common here in this database. I agree that this wouldn't be used in French, but in English it's ok.

Although I can't pretend to master English, I have doubts about this usage of "nee". I could understand that if company A absorbs company B and is renamed to reflect the merger, A could be designated as "New name nee A". For example, it may have been valid a few years ago to speak of "AOL Time Warner nee Time Warner". But I'm skeptical that the opposite ("New name nee B" or "AOL Time Warner nee AOL") is valid.

I certainly don't see any definition of "nee" which fits the use for ATI anyway. Wiktionary gives:
1. Used when giving the maiden name of a woman.
2. Used when giving a former name. Originally known as.

The Free Dictionary has:
1. Born. Used to indicate the maiden name of a married woman.
2. Formerly known as.

"AMD nee ATI" seems to suit the "formerly known as" meaning you mentioned. Where is the problem?

Anyway, switching to "AMD/ATI [Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.]" is a good idea, it should make the entry more readable. We can do the same with all companies, whose abbreviated names are in more common use than their full, official names.

Regarding brackets: They are not reserved for anything. We only recommend that marketing names of devices/subsystems should be enclosed in brackets, but other meaningful uses of brackets are still allowed.

If "AMD nee ATI" means "AMD, formerly known as ATI", the current formula implies that AMD was formerly known as ATI. That is incorrect; *part of* AMD was formerly known as ATI, but not AMD as a whole.

It is valid, but isn't enough precise. It is a Radeon 5450. I suggest to change the entry to

"VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Cedar [Radeon HD 5450]".

Hi Peter, the 5450 is indeed the most common card using that ID, but there are many more. If you click the ID here then you can see that by looking at the subsystems. There are many clones of the card in 6000, 7000 and 8000 series.

By the way, the Name field is used for proposing vendor & device names, not your own name.

Dell Optiplex 7450 AIO comes with "AMD Tropo Pro L [Radeon R7 M465x]" but Ubuntu 16.04 with latest pci-ids reports "Venus LE [Radeon HD 8830M]. It might need to be corrected.

macOS Ventura has been succesfully installed, But Intel UHD 620 Graphics has been modified (Spoofed) for 2GB VRAM but visual experience is bad and screen gets freezing and 2nd DGPU Radeon 530 Series also with motherboard but I cant find kext.

Can someone help me to fix this.

Any kext available for AMD Radeon 530 Series onboard gpu ?
