Update:

According to Overclocking.com, the alleged image of the Ryzen 9000 CPU is not real. It was made by a OC discord member many weeks ago.

A new leak revealed an engineering sample of an upcoming AMD processor, marked with the product code (OPN) 100-000001290-11. This chip belongs to the next-gen desktop lineup and is based on the Zen5 architecture, forming part of the anticipated “Granite Ridge” series for desktop use.

This engineering sample maintains the same Integrated Heat Spreader (IHS) design as seen in the current Ryzen 7000 “Raphael” processors, which utilize the Zen4 microarchitecture. It’s worth noting that this processor doesn’t have an official market name yet, which is common for early engineering samples that are still in development and not yet positioned within the future lineup. However, it would be reasonable to expect this processor to launch as Ryzen 7 9800X or Ryzen 7 9700X.

According to the source who shared the photograph, the sample is an 8-core, 16-thread version. However, the full-spec Granite Ridge CPU is expected to offer up to 16 cores and 32 threads.

Worth adding that this OPN code has already been seen. A shipping document identified the code as belonging to a processor with 6 cores and a 105W TDP. According to HXL, another source, which is a computing platform called einstein@home, indicates the OPN is linked to a processor with 16 threads. More importantly, this leak indicates that the OPN code has been in circulation for quite some time, at least since June 2nd of the previous year.

AMD has not provided confirmation regarding the release date of the Granite Ridge series. Nonetheless, the first products based on Zen5 architecture are expected to debut in the market this year. There is a common belief that AMD will officially unveil the new Ryzen series during Computex in early June, akin to how the company presented Ryzen 7000 series in 2022.
