Intel Core i5-14450HX spotted in Colorful M15 gaming laptop

The upcoming 14th Gen Core HX series should launch in a week.

Geekbench features an entry for Colorful’s revamped M15 24 laptop design, where 24 likely stands sfor the year 2024. This high-end gaming laptop incorporates Intel’s 55W mobile CPU series, leveraging desktop silicon with an increased core count. The company is gearing up to introduce a fresh wave of laptops featuring the 14th Gen Core HX series, showing a minor enhancement to the existing lineup.

The Core i5-14450HX is poised to offer 10 cores and 16 threads, with a turbo clock capability reaching up to 4.788 GHz (4.8 GHz). While there’s no adjustment to the core count, this represents a 200 MHz increase in clock speed compared to the i5-13450HX. This particular SKU holds the distinction of being the lowest in the current lineup, featuring less than half of the available cores.

As per the benchmark data, the increase in single-core clock boost evidently yields higher performance. This comparison is drawn from a single result featuring the 14450HX and an average of 12 scores involving the 13450HX. Nevertheless, there is a slight decline in multi-threaded performance.

In general, Intel appears to be planning for a minimum of five versions within the 14th Generation Core HX series, boasting a maximum of 24 cores and clock speeds reaching 5.8 GHz. Due to its limited integrated GPU performance (up to 32 cores), these CPUs are meant to be coupled with a discrete GPU, primarily with GeForce RTX 40 series, unless laptop makers decide to use Arc graphics. Colorful’s current laptop lineup features up to RTX 4070 Laptop GPU. But at this mid-range price point, one might wonder if the Core-H series would be a better and cheaper choice.
