It looks like some lucky gamers were able to find the new PlayStation 5 console already on sale.

Sony has yet to officially confirm the precise release date for the PS5 console, as the new slimmer version is intended to gradually replace the existing design. However, specific game bundles have their own launch dates, which can be regarded as the console’s official launch. One such bundle includes Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3, set to debut on November 8th.

A fortunate gamer has already encountered these bundles in-store and this console was available for him to purchase. This gamer also had access to the original version of the PlayStation 5 console, enabling the world’s first side-by-side comparison of both systems.

Unfortunately, the rumors have been confirmed: the disc drive will necessitate an internet connection and account login before operation. To reiterate, Sony is now offering the disc drive as an optional upgrade, but its use entails a configuration process that mandates console registration and account login.

Obviously, this raises questions whether Sony will continue supporting this accessory once the authentication servers are no longer available. Additional information may surface as the console becomes more widely available.

Sony intends to launch the upcoming PS5 console in November, but the precise release date remains unconfirmed. The PS5, equipped with a disc drive, is priced at $499.99, while the digital version will cost $449.99.
