OneXGPU will cost $599, the first external GPU featuring both M.2 slot and OCulink connector
This eGPU will launch in a few days through crowdfunding platform.
OneXplayer has revealed that their upcoming external GPU, featuring the AMD Radeon RX 7600M XT GPU, is scheduled for launch on either November 29th or 28th, depending on the region. The launch is specifically for crowdfunding, and the availability of the product beyond this phase remains uncertain.
In terms of pricing, the OneXGPU is slated to be priced at $599 for the initial 96 hours of the crowdfunding campaign. Although this figure represents a good price point for an external GPU equipped with such graphics capabilities, it is important to bear in mind that it does not accurately reflect the official retail price, which is expected to be higher.
The GPU is powered by Radeon RX 7600M XT the full Navi 33 GPU with RDNA3 architecture. The company today said that these graphics have a 2.3 GHz game clock and 120W TGP (Total Graphics Power). This means that the eGPU will offer maximum specs of these AMD graphics.
As a reminder, the RX 7600M XT is equipped with 2048 Stream Processors and 8 GB GDDR6 memory. This is not a high-end GPU; however, it is still superior to what integrated AMD Ryzen 7 7840U/Ryzen Z1 Extreme graphics can offer. We are looking at 2.66x more cores and dedicated GPU memory.
The integration of the OCulink connector ensures compatibility with various Mini-PCs and handheld devices for the OneXGPU. This connector offers increased bandwidth, reducing potential bottlenecks in comparison to USB4/Thunderbolt connections. It’s worth noting that both options, USB4 and OCulink, are available on this product.
Beyond its external graphics capabilities, the OneXGPU boasts a built-in M.2 SSD slot, sticking to PCIe Gen2 specifications. With a 280W power supply, the OneXGPU is equipped to provide up to 100W power delivery to the handheld device. This approach allows for simultaneous charging, improved GPU performance and expanding storage all through one cable.
Consumers will have the flexibility to customize their OneXGPU experience by opting for the OCulink cable as an additional accessory, priced at $29. Additionally, users will be able to select storage capacities ranging from 512GB to 4TB, with associated costs varying from $39 to $179 based on the chosen capacity.
The company has informed us that the current version of the product requires improvements, particularly in its ambient lighting side. Please note that this is a crowdfunded product that has not been tested by any independent media. Therefore, we cannot recommend preordering this product despite its attractive features and pricing.
