NVIDIA RTX 4070 SUPER 3DMark test leak
We have a very first look at the first SUPER GPU of this generation.
Tomorrow marks the end of the embargo for NVIDIA’s RTX 4070 SUPER reviews (at least some of them). This card is powered by the AD104 GPU featuring 7168 CUDA cores, nearly the full implementation of this GPU. As a result of this update, SUPER SKU will feature nearly 22% more cores compared to the RTX 4070, which has 5888 cores. It’s worth noting that despite the increase in cores, the memory configuration remains unchanged at 12GB GDDR6X. Initial information from ongoing tests, particularly in 3DMark performance, is set to be unveiled tomorrow. Today we are taking a brief look at those benchmarks.
As a reminder, NVIDIA’s embargo lift tomorrow will specifically cover ‘MSRP’ models, indicating cards priced according to NVIDIA’s recommendations. The focus will be on baseline models, often lacking factory overclocking. In the comparison provided below, we are looking at RTX 4070 SUPER and the non-SUPER version, both Founders Edition.
What’s important to note that RTX 4070 SUPER has a default TDP Of 220W, and in the case of Founders Edition, power can be adjusted up to 240W. As we already reported, some models like MSI GAMING X SLIM will feature 245W TDP out of the box, thus allowing the card to boost higher and offer higher performance.
When it comes to benchmarks. In short, RTX 4070 SUPER is 7% slower than RTX 4070 Ti and 18% faster than RTX 4070 in these tests, on average. The SUPER model is 15% to 19% faster than RTX 4070 and 8% to 5% slower than the Ti version.
One should remember that NVIDIA will be phasing out its RTX 4070 Ti model once RTX 4070 Ti SUPER is launched next week. At the same time, the RTX 4070 SUPER will not be replaced by the RTX 4070. Instead, the latter will get an official price adjustment to $549, which was more or less the price for many 4070’s for weeks.
The RTX 4070 SUPER is set to launch on January 17. On the same day, NVIDIA will lift the embargo on ‘OC’ aka models that will cost more than NVIDIA MSRP. If you are interested in gaming benchmarks, we encourage you to wait for our review roundup tomorrow. It will feature tests from other media with a lot more comprehensive look.
