NVIDIA RTX 4070 Ti SUPER shows 8% higher performance on average in 3DMark tests

While the RTX 4070 SUPER showed a large increase in performance compared to the RTX 4070, the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER appears to offer a smaller improvement. Reviewers are currently conducting tests on the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER, and some benchmark results have been shared with us. For now, we’ll focus on 3DMark scores, with comprehensive gaming benchmarks expected in full reviews set to be released in two days.

In summary, the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER is 15% slower compared to the RTX 4080, and it is 8% faster than the original RTX 4070 Ti. The gap between the first two models is expected to widen when NVIDIA introduces the SUPER update for the RTX 4080 by the end of January. As we reported, the original RTX 4080 card is heading for discontinuation as the new card is released. The non-SUPER version of the RTX 4070 Ti is headed for the same fate, with the new SUPER version offering gamers the same price but with a bit more power.

Synthetic benchmarks may not provide the complete picture, especially for the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER. This particular model will feature an increased memory capacity of 16GB, a 4GB upgrade from the non-SUPER version. The 3DMark benchmarks will not fully leverage the increased frame buffer, but it may already show the benefits of increased bandwidth. Larger memory capacity may have an impact on high-resolution gaming with Ultra settings. Ultimately, the result is likely to vary depending on the specific title, with GPU-bound games potentially showing a double-digit performance increase, while others may show smaller gains.

The RTX 4070 Ti SUPER is scheduled for launch on January 24, with initial reviews expected to be available a day earlier. Unlike the RTX 4080 SUPER and 4070 SUPER, the 4070 Ti version will not feature a Founder’s Edition design. As a result, performance might differ based on which particular model is tested. However, the review coverage on January 23 will focus on the so-called MSRP models, all expected to come with similar clocks and TDP settings. The test results below are based on such a model running on the new GeForce 551.15 driver.
