NVIDIA extensively explored various options for potentially refreshing the RTX 30 series. Eventually, they introduced the Ti series, which extended the initial lineup of Ampere GPUs. While the rumor mill churned out numerous speculations, it’s important to note that apart from a few tweets and statements from reputable leakers, no official confirmation ever surfaced.

Interestingly, some rumors turned out to be accurate, specifically regarding the planned RTX 3090 SUPER. It’s worth noting that this isn’t the first time we’ve seen glimpses of this card. Images of the Founders Edition design resurfaced on social media, potentially showcasing one of the very few prototypes considered. This card sported a distinctive black aesthetic with a black-painted X-frame. The unmistakable backplate logo confirmed its status as a SUPER variant.

However, NVIDIA ultimately chose not to release this model and instead opted for the RTX 3090 Ti. Notably, the RTX 3090 Ti didn’t feature the black design seen in the leaked images, raising questions about whether such a design will ever make its way to the market again.

Currently, there are no rumors circulating about a SUPER refresh for the RTX 40 series. The absence of a SUPER refresh for the RTX 30 series might indicate that NVIDIA is prioritizing the development of their Ti variants. It’s worth mentioning that neither the RTX 4090 nor the RTX 4080 received Ti updates, further supporting this focus on Ti iterations.
