The pricing for the GeForce RTX 4090 GPUs has remained relatively stable since its release late last year. The ROG STRIX models, known for their premium quality, have consistently been among the most expensive gaming cards on the market. Nevertheless, ASUS has chosen to introduce more variants of these GPUs, with even higher price tags than before.

The originally suggested retail price (MSRP) of $1,599 for the RTX 4090 seems like a distant memory when examining the ROG STRIX models. The least expensive model currently available on Newegg is priced at $1,999, and this is for the standard black design. ASUS has also unveiled a white edition, which comes at a slightly higher cost, currently $100 more expensive than the black variant.

The latest addition to the lineup, known as the EVA-02, is a graphics card inspired by the popular Japanese anime and manga series “Neon Genesis Evangelion.” This second generation of ASUS EVA series products departs from the purple design of the EVA-01, introducing a new red color scheme that extends to motherboards, chassis, and peripherals. Notably, the ROG STRIX design for this card has been adapted to this striking red theme.

While Newegg has become one of the first retailers in the US to list this card for sale, it’s important to note that it is not yet available and is expected to ship around October 26. However, the extended wait for shipping is not the only concern; the price tag is also a major issue. The card is retailing for $2,299, which is $300 higher than the original model’s price.

This card retains the same 35.8-inch length and utilizes a triple-fan cooling solution that occupies 3.5 slots in your system. It relies on a single 16-pin power connector, and beneath the cooler lies an RTX 4090 SKU with 16,384 CUDA cores. Additionally, the card boasts 24GB of GDDR6X memory and comes factory-overclocked, offering speeds of up to 2640 MHz.

The card ships with a standard bundle, which is Evangelion-themed. Users will find a 4x 8pin to 16pin power adapters as well as a small screwdriver that may also act as a VGA support.
