AMD FSR3 will work with Radeon RX 5700, GeForce RTX 20 GPUs, launching this fall

The long-overdue update for FSR3 is finally here.

AMD officially announces support for its latest upscaling technology in several titles. The new version of FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR), known as FSR3, introduces a feature called “Fluid Motion Frames,” which can be compared to AMD’s equivalent of DLSS3 Frame Generation. While this technology was initially unveiled in January of this year, AMD has taken longer than anticipated to reveal further details.

AMD provided a list of games that will support FSR3, such as Forspoken (which was used for the demo), Immortals of Aveum, Avatar: Frontiers – Pandora, Cyberpunk 2077 and others. There is however, no mention of Starfield.

AMD showcases the capabilities of FSR3 using “Forspoken” running at a 4K Ultra High RT preset. With the FSR3 Performance preset in action, the game’s frame rate surged from 36 to an 122 FPS, representing nearly a 3.4x increase. AMD has not yet disclosed the complete details regarding FSR quality tiers and support for Radeon and other GPU models. There is also a new mode with Native Antialiasing that has been implemented into FSR3. Here AMD is showing a 64 to 106 FPS increase.

AMD confirmed FSR3 will work on Radeon RX 7000, 6000 and older GPUs. The company also confirmed FSR3 will be supported by other GPU vendors, and consoles. AMD provided the following chart explaining which cards can support and which GPUs are recommended.

Do note, this does not mean FSR3 will not work with other and slower GPUs, it is simply not recommended and optimized. Graphics cards such as GTX 10 and lower will also support FSR3 upscaling, but not the frame generation technology.

While AMD has officially confirmed that FSR is coming soon, unfortunately, they have not yet provided a specific release date, apart from saying it will launch this fall.
